VERWOOD'S TALENTED YOUTH

Heavier Than Air - Vocal :Tim Taylor Drums :Chris Inman Guitar :Jordan Gregory Bass :Will Dop.

Verwood's Annual Talented Youth Concerts took place in the Merryfield Theatre at The Hub on 21 st June. There was a full range of music and dance items from classical to rock, from solos to group singing and playing; from ballet to tap, Irish to street dancing – all proving how talented Verwood's young people are. Organiser, Angela Daymond said - “the show is organised to give young people the experience of appearing in a theatre and showing off their talents to a wider audience than is achieved through school concerts. It's very rewarding to see the progress made by those who have appeared in previous concerts.”

Kristina Sawyer (solo) accompanied by brother Matt on guitar and harmony

Proving that the show must still go on, one performer hurt his thumb rather badly on the morning of the concert, but still managed to play the drums and do a handstand as part of a modern dance routine. The concert also gave an opportunity for musicians, who did not previously know each other, to get together when they volunteered to play the National Anthem for the evening concert.

Sam Eliot (drums); Catherine Evans (cello); Charley Fleming (flute)

Any proceeds from the concerts will go to the HYPA fund (Hub Young People's Activities) to provide equipment and events at the Hub for young people.
