Victorious Verwood Concert Brass
Verwood Concert Brass proudly display the shield and pennant awarded following their recent triumph at the West of England Regional Championships in Torquay. Mike Tiller (Euphonium), Melanie Coward (Horn), Pam Reeks (Horn), David John son (Musical Director /Conductor) and Sally Burrows (Trombone) had every reason to celebrate as Verwood Concert Brass beat thirteen other bands to come first in their section. The band has had a number of successes in recent years and as a result of their achievements at the Regional Championships will play in the second section next year. This will be the third time in the last four years that they have been West of England Champions and gone forward to represent the West of England at the National Finals, held in Harrogate in September.
Brass Banding has always been a family affair and this is certainly the case with local prize winning band Verwood Concert Brass. Our picture shows Ann Butler (12) and her Mum Kay, playing for an appreciative audience in Verwood Memorial Hall. Kay is the band's principal tenor horn player while Ann is learning the cornet and doing really well.
